
Bio
Kayla holds the role of Nuclear Materials Accountability Engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Radiochemical Engineering Development Center in the Radioisotope Science and Technology Division (RSTD). In her current role, she serves as a Material Balance Area (MBA) Representative and supports two of the largest MBAs at ORNL, implementing DOE Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) requirements for both the Pu-238 and Cf-252 Production Programs. She also serves as RSTD’s quality assurance coordinator. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, she has spent almost eight years at ORNL with a focus in radioisotope production, process engineering, NMC&A, radiological protection, quality assurance, and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). She has participated in several assessments throughout ORNL and has training on conducting assessments, causal analysis, and NQA-1 lead auditor training. Outside of work, Kayla enjoys playing piano and spending time with her husband and two sons.
